....The Pin Project..Le Project Pin....

Last night marked the kick-off to a special campaign by one of our members, Far + Wide Collective.  The Pin Project was created to give hope to refugees through employment, and to encourage long-term self-reliance through meaningful work.

#ThePinProject campaign is selling a fashion-forward pin designed by Canadian Jenny Bird. The beautiful pins are shaped like kites, symbolizing hope and will be produced by some of the 65 million refugees, internally displaced people and returnees around the world. 100% of proceeds go right back into the project, with over 70% going directly to the refugees and their families.

Hedvig Alexander spoke about the project at the launch:

"In Canada, the cost of the pin is $32 – equal to about 6 really nice cups of coffee. You take something, and package it nicely, make it affordable and make people feel that you don’t have to change everything in your life to be a part of solving something.  If you can make this small contribution, its really valuable. I think together we can do so much more, if we have a more collective approach to these big issues...the more positive and optimistic I become about how we can make these changes. That’s really what the pin project is about.”

We encourage you to get involved – join women like Jenny and Hedvig to #BeThePlus.
