Building on the benefits of community tourism presented by Planeterra in April’s circle, “The idea behind community tourism is about forging a greater sense of connectedness between all people regardless of the geographical, racial, social, economic or cultural background while travelling and at home.” Community tourism seeks to transform the tourism industry and build up local communities by empowering community members, especially women, to engage directly with the tourist sector.
